Freshers' Party - Words By A First Yearite

Hello!!! To whoever reading this, I'm Aritra Sasmal, a B.Tech 1st yr mechanical
student at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati(though anybody who's
gone through some senior junior interaction/PDP will tell the same in hindi ).

Now this is the first time I'm writing a "blog".So it might be a little crappy, but
please try to bear with me and I'm sure it'll add to your anger management
skills. :D Well I don't exactly remember the date but it was just after we finished
a dozen orientations, quiz 1 and midsem that the freshers' came. And yes,
looking at the food menu we were quite excited(quality food after 2 months).
But we had to maintain a bit of mouth watering patience(and be content looking
at the menu) for some time as the fresher's got postponed for a week.

But at last the day came.

Now as we all know every fresher has a dress code. And since there wasn't
any female species in the department, well the seniors could use their creativity
liberally. The mail regarding the dress code said we have to dress like a boy
from the front and a girl from back. And the little smiley at the end said the  rest. On the day all 78 (*2 counting our backs) sat in the mechanical department class in which "MESA" had been written in stylish courses and colours on the  board. The seniors sat in an arc in front of all of us with the fourth yearites at the centre. And yes, I forgot to mention, we weren't obviously allowed to walk into the  classroom and sit down. We had to walk backwards doing catwalk to some ramp music(or whatever it is called) all around the room and then sit. The fresher's  started with each of us having to give an Intro about ourselves(including the girl
on your back-side), followed by some question or acts that the seniors demanded
that anyone who has done engineering might already know and anyone below the
level need not know.

The INTRO session was followed by performances by the freshers, which I think
rocked(most of it), followed by the Mr fresher competition. This round saw some
very witty answers from some of the fresher's and GAUTAM(I don't know your
surname dude) came out as the winner simply beating Murtaza in the FINALE -
The verbal aggression round.

So after 4-5 hours of all this. The party ended at last, and we could have our
beloved dinner. The dinner was fabulous(and judging by the fact it was free...
yeah the senior's paid for ours. It got exponentially tastier). Though the next day
eating the mess food again got excruciatingly painful for me. :( But food apart,  we got to know each other, the seniors, got some valuable tips (for career and next year's freshers' party) and were officially incorporated into the most active and rocking body in all of IITG.

*****MESA*****
